Update - 5 Things On The 5th (May 2018)

I just turned 30, and I was thinking of all of the things I want to do in my 30's. Now, I'm not making an express goal, although I know there are certainly a few things I want in life. Instead, I figured it would be good every 5th of every month (since I was born on the 5th) to go over 5 things that I did. Not 5 things I learned, not 5 things I want to do -- five things I physically did this month. So here is my list for this month:
  1.  While on vacation, I went on morning walks on the beach, going out to low tide and going exploring. Away from phones and stresses, I was able to focus fully on Jesus. I've kept these morning walks going, even when they're hard, even just by going around the neighborhood once or twice if time allows. No stresses, no distractions, just Jesus and whatever might be on my mind.
  2. As mentioned in this same blog, I found something I had been searching for for a long time. I didn't need to find it, but finding it has enabled me to live with so much more peace that I wasn't even aware I wasn't receiving.
  3. I absolutely fell in love with Nostalgia! Not the feeling, the BEMANI game! I'm sure I'll post a lot about it over at my Akiba Idol Emily stuff, but it's basically if you took DDR and a piano and mashed them together. I really hope I get to play more often.
  4. I finally finished the first draft of pop'n music SYNESIRIS, my epic three-part BEMANI self-insert fanfiction. It will be a long time before it's released to the world - if ever - but I'm still really proud of myself for this accomplishment. Writing is hard, guys.
  5. This may be too much information, but after two years of the same exact ones, I bought new bras. It's the little things.
Hopefully this becomes a good practice.

In addition: as the time draws nearer, I'm really considering putting a slightly-updated Odyssey of Light series up here. It was originally written two years ago, and I want for it to serve as a good (if long) testimony for why I believe what I believe, and the things God has let happen to me. Thoughts?

Update: 2020's End Of Year Review

2011 + 2012 + 2013 + 2014 + 2015 + 2016 + 2017 + 2018 + 2019  Official End Of Year Review -- 2020 Once upon a time, there were five boys and a star. The boys and the star made a promise. “Even if we go our separate ways, we will meet here again.” 1. What did you do in 2020 that you'd never done before?: I know of someone who felt like he was trapped in an eternal winter, not sure if spring would ever come for him. Well, if he were still alive, he'd probably have an entire weeks' worth of soiled underwear, because it has been March for ten months now. It's part of the reason I stopped posting things that I've done every month, because there was nothing to do. But I adapted surprisingly well. While the rest of the world was dealing with not getting haircuts and being trapped, those of us with mental health issues were able to pull out ALL the resources we use on a daily basis and handle it the bes...

Update - Why I Didn't Go To Pride

Okay, I said I'd write something, so it might as well be now. I've never been to a Pride. I've always wanted to go, but I often feel like my presence won't be appropriate there. Like I'm not "queer" enough. And a lot of this comes from my past. As a gentle reminder, this wasn't any one particular thing's fault. It was a product of being talented and being shoved into the limelight and wanting to use my talent, but also the things I had to do to get places and be on stage and do this certain thing or appear that certain way. It was never my idea to do those things, but during my formative years, being gay was out of the question. It's why it was so escapist back then. The way I saw it, the only way you could be gay was to simultaneously live a life of exile, away from the world, unable to do anything remotely well with your life. I didn't have any happy stories to live off of. They were all stories of gay kids being disowned by their par...

Update: 2018's End Of Year Review

2011 + 2012 + 2013 + 2014 + 2015 + 2016 + 2017  Official End Of Year Review -- 2018 The scent of you, carried along by the wind When I touch your cheek, it's freezing It's completely unbelievable --  we're meeting again. It's a beautiful, beautiful life...   1. What did you do in 2018 that you'd never done before?: I think the biggest thing for me is that I was able to go to therapy! Not like HARDCORE CBT or anything like that, I've always been able to dig myself out of that. But I was able to go to career counseling to figure out what I ACTUALLY want to do with my music talent, instead of just letting everybody else mold it. I lost a major project I wanted to be in at the beginning of the year due to a micromanaging leader who took what was supposed to be mine and made it hers. Later on, I lost the Akiba Idol Emily project because I started it for the wrong reasons, which of course led to a massive mental breakdown WHILE at Matsuricon . Neve...
